Family-Friendly Las Vegas

1. Excalibur - South Central Strip $ Excalibur (The Castle) has won awards for being the most family friendly hotel in Las Vegas. It has a large children's arcade downstairs with 4D movies featuring Spongebob Squarepants, Extreme Log Ride and Jerassic Park. The new pool scene is great for kids with big shallow areas for younger children. There is a McDonalds and other restaurants downstairs. Excalibur also has a $25 all you can eat - all day deal at the buffet. The Tournament of the Kings dinner and show (with real horses) is also a wonderful show for children and adults alike.
2. Circus Circus - North Strip $
3. Mandalay Bay - South Strip $$$ This quality casino is located on the south end of the Las Vegas Strip. To get to the central part of the Strip, there is a free monorail to Luxor and Excalibur that departs every minute or two. Mandalay Bay rates high as one of the most family friendly hotels because it has an aquarium and probably the best pool/beach scene in Las Vegas.
Tip: Mandalay Bay is attached to Luxor through a short shopping mall, so if you are seeking a cheaper room, you can stay at Luxor and enjoy the shows, restaurants and aquarium at Manadaly Bay.
Note: This is my favorite hotel so far for families, entertainment, dining and luxury.
4. Luxor - South Strip $ Our room seemed larger than Circus Circus and Excalibur and nicely appointed but it was very far from the elevators. Our view was pretty amazing, even though we were facing away from the Strip, we still had a good view over the large pool area. The rooms were very quiet and the children didn't have to go anywhere near the casino during our stay, which is rare for any of the casinos on the Strip. Luxor is attached to Mandalay Bay via a shopping mall, so we spent a lot of our stay around Mandalay Bay, which has a good buffet dinner and Sharkworld Aquarium package. We had a fun time at the guest introductory champagne meet and greet, where they gave away good prizes. We won two tickets to the Titanic Exhibition and a T-Shirt. The casino has Human Bodies and Titanic exhibitions in the main areas. They are very good but expensive at $23 for a child. This enormous Egyptian themed pyramid is situated between Mandalay Bay and Excalibur. A free monorail provides transport between the three casinos. All have attractions for children and Luxor always advertises an interesting exhibit. The quality, themed rooms are often highly discounted.
5.Monte Carlo - South Central Strip $ Great Value midweek. The rooms at Monte Carlo are nice and the pool scene is great. I have included this hotel for its location and its pools, which include a river pool for tubing and a wave pool (shown above). There is also an eatery that includes fast food restaurants that kids like. We have stayed here and enjoyed the central location and the pool.

6. Stratosphere - North Strip $ This hotel has everything for young and old, with an amazing amusement park on the very top of the tower (For teenagers and adults only). Guests have unlimited access tot he tower which is pretty amazing day and night. The following review sounds negative, but the Stratosphere is actually an excellent hotel and lots of fun for kids. Most rooms are smaller than other casinos and Stratosphere is located at the far north end of the Strip, so it is almost too far to walk anywhere and it's not the best part of town. It's close to Freemont Street by car and the Outlet shopping center. There is a monorail station behind Sahara, which isn't far away from Stratosphere. The pool is located in a sunny area on the 8th floor. It has bars and a volleyball net, but only the hot tub is open during the winter. There is a good evening variety show that is suitable for kids (maybe with the exception of showgils in g-strings) and casino Ace Club members (free to join downstairs) get two-for-one entry into the shows. There is also a fun kid's arcade in the shopping center, and a McDonalds. Stratosphere also offers all you can eat all day for $20 per person (any age). Sundays offers all you can eat king crab and champagne until 2 p.m. for the same price. Lots of fun offers for adults too!
7. Treasure Island - North Central Strip $$
8. MGM Grand - South Central Strip $$ The Lobby of MGM Grand is a dreamland for children with a live lion exhibit and a jungle restaurant with life-like animals. (Be careful though - my little baby was afraid of the realistic elephants at first). The hotel is located in the most central part of the strip. MGM Grand is a little more upmarket than Excalibur. MGM also has a monorail station at the back, which sometimes makes it easier to get around.
9. Venetian - Central Strip $$$ Another high-end hotel with amazing entertainment, a beautiful shopping center and an excellent central strip location is the Venetian. I remember the wonderment I felt at this hotel on my very first trip to Las Vegas, as I saw the period actors and the opera singers as they row the gondolas through the shopping area. This hotel embodies everything that is big, glamorous and surreal about Las Vegas. Is is also attached to Madam Tussaud's Wax Museum.
10. Paris - Central Strip $$$ Central location. Quality hotel. Very nice mall inside and unique village style buffet with extra French flair. I stayed here May 14th for approx $75. We loved it. The rooms were beautiful and the whole French theme was very elegant and fun.
11. Trump Towers - Off North Central Strip $$$ I have recently received an excellent review of Trump Towers through this site. Now is the time to experience this luxury location. Located a little back from the central Strip. Children are welcome and receive a children's package on arrival. I have not stayed here but it is classified as 5-star and they advertised rooms that are larger than most. I consider this hotel good value for money, as I have seen some deep discounts for these luxury newer rooms.
12. New York NY - South Central Strip $$ Sun - Thur approx $69 plus tax. The roller coaster and the location at the center of the Strip makes this hotel the number-one choice for teenagers. And for parents who like to party, there are lots of restaurants, bars and nightclubs downstairs and close by.
13. Mirage - Central Strip $$$ The Mirage is famous for its newly updated volcano show on-the-hour every evening. It is very centrally located just south of Treasure Island. It has a beautiful tropical pool area. One of the most popular in Vegas.
14.Caesar's Palace - Central Strip $$$ Caesar's Palace is where many of the big billing shows appear. It is one of the most famous Las Vegas Hotels and is located in the center of the Strip. The casino includes the famous Forum shops with life-like statues and fountain show.
15. Bellagio - Central Strip $$$ Bellagio is a large, glamorous hotel with a beautiful fountain show every evening. This hotel is very central and 5-star. The reason I like it is the babysitter can be upstairs in the room with the kids, while we can be listening to a piano player in a bar downstairs. This casino also has a nightclub called "The Bank" that caters to the more "sophisticated" crowd, which means you don't feel like an idiot when you are over 35. The kids will still enjoy Bellagio for the beautiful atrium, the pool, the nice rooms and the central location.
16. Planet Hollywood - Central Strip $$ Not the most children friendly hotel in my opinion, but I still had a good experience here because of the Miracle Mile shops and the central location. This hotel has nice rooms, great views, large bathrooms and big-screen TV's. I would say that it had the best bed I have ever slept in, but the pools were very old-fashioned. I think they are currently upgrading the pool area, which means the construction is causing them to do some deep discounting. The shopping center is beautiful and very chic and trendy, but there is a lot of walking involved to get anywhere.
Sunday through Thursday nights in Las Vegas are usually less expensive than Fridays and Saturdays.
